Amy Medford & Leonid Siveriver
Multi-media

Contemporary artists and husband and wife team, Amy and Leonid create artworks in bronze, stone and clay; as well as paintings and pencil drawings in 2 dimension.

They’ve resided in a lush country setting just outside the city limits of Asheville since 2015, after relocating to be nearer family in Atlanta.   Amy originally hails from New Jersey.  She studied Theater History at Cornell University, then earned an apprenticeship at the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute for Sculpture where she mastered the lost wax technique of bronze casting.

Leonid is from Ukraine and as a child showed a strong interest in the arts.  In his early teens he and his family moved to Israel where he was enrolled into the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.  It was there Leonid received his BFA followed by post graduate studies.  He then crossed the Atlantic to further his interest in sculpture at a noted northern Atelier.

It was the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture (now the Seward Johnson Atelier) in Mercerville, NJ where Amy and Leonid met.  Later the couple spent a year in Pietrasanta, Italy where they studied marble carving at the Studio Antoniazzi, and sculpture at Studio Palla.

Although both Amy and Leonid often work with the same art materials, Amy focuses on the human form and Leonid looks to ancient cultures and symbols for his inspiration.  Leonid also creates a line of contemporary functional ceramics.

Their beautiful studio is spacious and abounding in sunlight, and here you’ll be amazed at the variety of artworks available!  On my last visit I viewed the gamut from figurative sculpture and functional household items in clay, to paintings, photography and bronzes.  Join me for a visit to see these highly skilled artists in their warm and inviting studio.
